Veterinary Cost Cover, Accidental Cost Cover and Veterinary Helpline Terms and Conditions

Meet My Doggo provides its members with a 24/7 Veterinary Helpline, Veterinary Costs Coverage for the well-being of animals during sittings (so that the people taking care of them have no hesitation in taking them to the veterinarian), as well as an Accidental Damage Cover for damages caused by animals.

The conditions of the Veterinary Costs Coverage, the Accidental Damage Cover, and the Veterinary Helpline are additions to the General Terms of Use (GTU). This means that users must comply with both the GTU and the specific conditions below.

Unless a term is defined differently in the conditions below, all terms beginning with a capital letter have the same meaning as in the GTU of Meet My Doggo.

Terms and Details of the Veterinary Costs Coverage

1. Beneficiaries of the Veterinary Costs Coverage

Pet Owners, Pet Sitters, and Borrowers who are users of Meet My Doggo can benefit from the Veterinary Costs Coverage, provided they comply with the conditions specified below.

2. Purpose of the Veterinary Costs Coverage

Meet My Doggo offers, on a commercial basis and at its sole discretion, a Veterinary Costs Coverage. This coverage allows Pet Owners, Pet Sitters, and Borrowers to obtain reimbursement for veterinary expenses concerning animals entrusted via Meet My Doggo. The covered costs are limited to expenses incurred during services or resulting from bodily injury suffered by the animals during a service, according to the conditions described below. Only bodily injuries to animals are covered by this Veterinary Costs Coverage.

This coverage also includes:

  • The animals of Pet Sitters and Borrowers: If an animal under their care, within the framework of a service booked via Meet My Doggo, is responsible for damage caused to animals they own.
  • Third-party animals: If they suffer damage caused by an animal under the care of a Pet Sitter or Borrower within the framework of a service booked via Meet My Doggo. This excludes animals cared for as part of a sitting, walking, or visiting service that was not booked through Meet My Doggo.

Important points to note:

  • Not an insurance policy: This coverage does not constitute an insurance policy and is not intended to replace insurance contracts that Users must subscribe to.
  • Encourage veterinary care: It is offered to ensure that Pet Sitters and Borrowers do not hesitate to consult a veterinarian in case of an accident during a sitting.
  • Limited to unforeseeable accidents: The Veterinary Costs Coverage only reimburses unforeseen expenses related to accidents (damages resulting from intentional or criminal acts are therefore excluded, and related expenses remain the responsibility of the persons responsible for these acts).
  • User responsibility: No payment made by Meet My Doggo under this coverage constitutes an exemption, reduction, or cancellation of a User’s liability for any damage or injury caused to an animal by that User or any other person, or for which a User is responsible. Users remain legally and morally responsible for the safety and well-being of animals when they are in their care.
  • Maximum coverage limit: The total amount of the coverage offered by Meet My Doggo will in no case exceed the maximum amount defined in the conditions.

In summary, this coverage is a commercial offer intended to cover certain unforeseen veterinary expenses related to accidents occurring during services booked via Meet My Doggo. It aims to encourage Pet Sitters and Borrowers to consult a veterinarian without hesitation when necessary, while reminding Users that they remain fully responsible for the animals entrusted to them.

3. Amount of the Veterinary Costs Coverage

  • Annual limit per animal: The Veterinary Costs Coverage covers up to €3,000 per animal per calendar year. This means that the total amount of reimbursements for the same animal cannot exceed €3,000 during a year.
  • Deductible per claim: For each claim (incident resulting in veterinary expenses), a deductible of €50 is applied. This means that the first €50 of expenses remain the responsibility of the User for each declared claim.

Example:

If an animal requires veterinary care amounting to €500 following an accident:

  • Deductible: €50 are deducted from the amount as the deductible.
  • Reimbursable amount: The remaining €450 can be reimbursed under the coverage, at the discretion of Meet My Doggo and subject to compliance with other conditions.

4. Eligibility Conditions for the Veterinary Costs Coverage

Terms and Details of the Accidental Damage Cover

1. Beneficiaries of the Accidental Damage Cover

Pet Owners, Pet Sitters, and Borrowers who are users of Meet My Doggo can benefit from the Accidental Damage Cover, provided they comply with the conditions specified below.

2. Purpose of the Accidental Damage Cover

Meet My Doggo offers, on a commercial basis and at its sole discretion, an Accidental Damage Cover.

This cover allows Pet Owners, Pet Sitters, and Borrowers to obtain reimbursement for costs related to the repair of accidental damages caused by Pet Sitters or Borrowers to the possessions of Owners, or damages caused by the entrusted animals to the possessions of Pet Sitters or Borrowers.

The covered costs are limited to damages occurring during services, according to the conditions described below. Only material damages and losses in case of theft are covered by this Accidental Damage Cover.

This cover is limited to material damages to the possessions of Users; it does not cover material damages to third parties.

Important points to note:

  • Not an insurance policy: This cover does not constitute an insurance policy and is not intended to replace insurance contracts that Users must subscribe to. We encourage our Users to ensure they have all necessary insurances for their participation in using Meet My Doggo and the services they may provide voluntarily or for remuneration to other Users.
  •
  • Does not replace civil liability insurance: This cover is offered to ensure that Users’ possessions are covered within the terms of the cover, but the possessions of third parties (e.g., possessions of guests that a User receives at their home during a sitting) are not covered. As a reminder, having civil liability insurance (which covers damages to third parties) is mandatory to register on Meet My Doggo. For Borrowers who offer their services voluntarily, most civil liability insurances cover damages caused by animals under their care to third parties (Users are strongly advised to verify this point in their insurance contract). For Pet Sitters, they are solely responsible for subscribing to insurance for this activity if their local law requires it, and if their local law does not require it, Meet My Doggo advises them to obtain professional civil liability insurance for this activity (Meet My Doggo does not verify if Pet Sitters have subscribed to professional insurance; however, Owners may ask them).
  •
  • Limitation to unforeseeable accidents: The Accidental Damage Cover only reimburses unforeseen expenses related to accidents (i.e., damages caused intentionally or criminally are not covered, and the responsibility for repairs related to these damages remains entirely with the person responsible for these damages).
  •
  • User responsibility: No payment made by Meet My Doggo under this cover constitutes an exemption, reduction, or cancellation of a User’s liability for any damage created by that User or any other person or animal for which a User is responsible. Users remain legally responsible for their actions and their consequences, as well as those of the animals in their care.
  •
  • Maximum coverage limit: The total amount of the cover offered by Meet My Doggo will in no case exceed the maximum amount defined in the conditions.

In summary, this cover is a commercial offer intended to cover certain unforeseen expenses related to accidental damages occurring during services booked via Meet My Doggo. It aims to reassure Users regarding their financial protection in case of accidental damages, while reminding them that they remain fully responsible for their actions (as well as those of the animals in their care) and the results of their actions.

3. Amount of the Accidental Damage Cover

  • Annual limit per User: The Accidental Damage Cover covers up to €3,000 per User and per calendar year. This means that the total amount of reimbursements for the same User cannot exceed €3,000 during a year.
  •
  • Deductible per claim: For each claim (damage resulting in costs), a deductible of €250 is applied. This means that the first €250 of expenses remain the responsibility of the User for each declared claim.

Example:

If an animal causes damage to a possession of a Pet Sitter or Borrower, or if a Pet Sitter causes damage to a possession of an Owner during a service, and this damage amounts to €2,000:

  • Deductible: €250 are deducted from the amount as the deductible.
